ABOUT

WHY

My mission is to continue to grow art within the Twin Cities and beyond. My mediums are primarily steel, stone, and wood. I believe strongly in creating art for the masses that sparks an idea or a feeling and ultimately an action. A quick inhale; an “Ah Ha” moment; or even a stroll around one of my pieces employs all the human ‘feels’. My work emenates from the hearts of my clients through the materials. What comes from the earth eventually goes back into the earth.

‘Every Drop Counts’ is a concept that flows through my work and can be found under FUN STUFF!

Art! Earth inspired.

PROCESS

My process begins with one human or group of humans who are interested in a commissioned piece of art. I begin by getting to know the person, family, or organization. After I understand the desire, scope, and settle on a budget, I pick up a pencil and paper and start drawing and/or create a maquette. You’ll see this process in stories throughout the website. Then we all hold space for creative license. After all…these earthly materials are much more in control than I am!

Biography

I was born in Iowa and have always been an artist. Throughout my education, I seemed to gain interest in the art I created and eventually earned an MFA from University of Iowa. (Go Hawks!) After UI I found myself in Boston learning the almighty computer! Somehow I picked up graphics programs looking over the shoulder of other young graphic artists. I mastered enough computer skills and was employed as an Advertisitng Art Director. (No small feat btw) By day I was creating concepts and ads for Star Market, large and small Boston area businesses, and Tab Newspapers. (Old Bostonians will remember the TAB!) By night I was painting building walls, (with and without permission) declaring my ideas, and all the while producing pretty images! After years in Boston, I packed up (kind of) and moved to Los Angeles for something else to do. I continued in advertising, design, public art, and found myself dabbling in the entertainment industry! It was in LA that I realized art has an undeniable healing effect on all human beings, especially the underprivileged, abused, and homeless. I volunteered with Free Arts, California and was thrilled to learn Free Arts was active in the Twin Cities and continued my volunteering. (It’s a love story how I got to Minnie…) To this day I give of my time, experience, and money to organizations like Make-A-Wish where I work one-on-one with a MAW child. Public and Private Commissions are a large part of my business. Conceptual shows are a large part of what rolls around in my head!
